How to upload and download files using WS FTP

The instructions below are for WS FTP LE Version 5.0, but they should apply to most versions of WS FTP.

1) Open WS FTP and load your session profile.

2) Click "Ok". Wait for the connection process to complete.

3) You will see the following screen:

* The files on the left are the files on your local computer
* The files on the right are the files on your server

4) If you wish to edit a page, click on the file in the right-hand window and click the download button. Then, open it up in your HTML editor (Front Page, Dreamweaver, etc.) and edit it.

5) When you have finished editing a page, click on the file in the left-hand window and click the upload button.

Note: If you are inactive for 5 minutes, the server will disconnect. You will have to connect again.

Note: Some pages are not located in the "home" directory of your server. To edit those, you will need to navigate through the folders in FTP just as you would using windows explorer. Be aware that when you click the upload or download button, it will save the selected file in the current window shown on the opposite side of the screen. Because of this, be sure to navigate "in parallel", meaning, if you open a directory on one side of the window, open the same directory in the other side of the window.

Good luck!!
